The Bandit - As a dabbling duck, American Wigeon are poor divers. This makes it difficult for them to obtain some of their favorite foods; leaves & roots of submergent vegetation. Often seen with large rafts of canvasbacks, redheads, & bluebill, wigeon will steal what these skilled divers lose & often snatch it straight from their mouths. They have also been known to steal from geese and even muskrats!
